Belkin Powerline AV+ Wins Bronze International Design Excellence Award (IDEA), Presented by IDSA and Sponsored by BusinessWeek, IDSA, Target, and Autodesk

COMPTON, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 30, 2009 Belkin International, Inc., today announced that it has won the prestigious IDEA Award, by cosponsors Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), BusinessWeek, Target Corporation, and Autodesk Inc., a world leader in design innovation technologies. Belkin received the bronze IDEA Award for the Powerline AV+ in the Entertainment category. The Powerline AV+ allows users to reliably transmit content from the Internet directly to home-theater systems and computers through the wires in their homes.

Belkin began competing in 2002 and has received a total of nine IDEA Awards, with the last seven awards occurring in the past six years. Belkin’s award-winning design team also made the “Top Corporations” list of companies who have won the most awards in the past six years.

The 2009 jury, composed of 20 world-renowned designers and design thinkers, spent weeks previewing entries online and two-and-a-half days of intense, face-to-face evaluation and debate on IDEA. Judging criteria for each entry focused on nine areas of industrial design excellence: design innovation; benefit to the user; benefit to the client/business; benefit to society; ecological responsibility; appropriate aesthetics and appeal; usability testing; rigor and reliability (Design Research category); and internal factors and methods, implementation (Design Strategy category).
