CHICAGO, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions, today announced that Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB), a leading provider of positioning solutions in the construction, agriculture, field service and fleet management markets, has expanded its agreement with NAVTEQ for Mobile Resource Management (MRM) applications.

Under the agreement, Trimble now has access to all 77 countries in the NAVTEQ map database for use with its GeoManager(TM), TrimWeb(TM) and TrimView(TM) solutions. This multi-year agreement also gives Trimble the rights to utilize NAVTEQ's Entry Maps, which provide additional basic geographic coverage for the rest of the world. Together, the solutions provide a global map experience. Finally, Trimble will continue to license NAVTEQ Transport(TM) - with coverage in 20 countries worldwide - and NAVTEQ Traffic(TM) content for its MRM solutions.

Trimble's multi-year agreement with NAVTEQ goes beyond map coverage to include advanced NAVTEQ content such as NAVTEQ Transport which contains a growing number of attributes which target the specific needs of the transport industry enabling sophisticated truck navigation, as well as routing and dispatch optimization. Additionally, Trimble will have access to NAVTEQ Traffic, a unique data gathering, aggregated and quality-tested, comprehensive solution that links up-to-the minute traffic information to map data and enables wireless transmission directly to vehicle on-board navigation systems, portable navigation devices and cell phones.

"NAVTEQ maps and rich content have been key to Trimble's vertical market solutions for years," said Roy Kolstad, vice president and general manager, enterprise North America, NAVTEQ.
