TORONTO – June 30, 2009 – ESRI Canada announced that Oxford County has leveraged ESRI technology and Azteca Systems’ Cityworks solution to fulfill a new asset management strategy, termed Project Matrix. The implementation will automate manual processes, fully integrate with financial systems for Tangible Capital Asset (TCA) reporting and enable PSAB PS3150 compliance today and for years to come.
Oxford County has been an advanced and progressive user of GIS technology for the past 24 years and was one of ESRI’s first municipal clients worldwide. Project Matrix will reinforce their commitment to connecting the public, users and municipalities through GIS by fully integrating Cityworks with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains for financials; Time Manager for payroll; and RIVA for long term capital asset planning.
Cityworks, a GIS-centric asset and maintenance management system, will replace manual processes for service requests as well as work orders for water distribution, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment plants, facilities, engineering and fleet, saving the County time and optimizing efficiency. It will be used mainly for public works related calls but eventually, will be expanded to other areas within the County.
“Cityworks, integrated with the County’s financial applications, is a powerful tool that will enable us to better plan the services we deliver to the public and predict our corporate infrastructure needs both in the present and well into the future,” said Lynn Buchner, Director of Corporate Services, Oxford County.
The software will track all costs related to asset management including equipment and material for assets currently under construction. The Cityworks interface was connected with the County’s Great Plains financial systems to track the purchase of goods and services and is also linked to the County’s time management application to process payroll information. This integrated approach will provide a complete, centralized system for asset management that is fully PSAB PS3150 compliant.
