New Book: Map Use: Reading and Analysis, Sixth Edition, By Jon Kimerling, Phillip Muehrcke, Juliana Muehrcke, Aileen Buckley

Jon Kimerling is professor of geography at Oregon State University in Corvallis. He has studied at the University of Washington and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and has taught cartography and map use at the University of Wisconsin and Curtin University in Perth, Australia. Kimerling has published widely on topics of cartography, remote sensing, and geographic information systems. He has served as president of the American Cartographic Association, head U.S. delegate to the International Cartographic Association, and editor of The American Cartographer (now Cartography and Geographic Information Science). 

Phillip Muehrcke is professor emeritus of Geography at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He has studied at Northern Michigan University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Sydney in Australia, and has taught cartography at the University of Washington, the University of Arizona, and the University of Hawaii. Muehrcke has published and lectured widely on the topics of mapping and map use. He has served as chair of the Wisconsin Committee on State Cartography, director of the University of Wisconsin Cartography Laboratory, and president of the American Cartographic Association. 

Juliana Muehrcke is the founding editor of Nonprofit World, a national journal for executives in nonprofit organizations. She has written for more than 100 publications, mostly in the educational field. She has studied at the University of Colorado, the University of Michigan, and the University of Washington. She is the past vice president and membership chair of Women in Communications. 

Aileen Buckley received her doctorate from Oregon State University, and is currently a cartography professor at the University of Redlands, as well as a cartographic researcher for ESRI. Buckley has written numerous articles on map design and GIS for mapping, as well as contributed to the detailed, full-color volume Atlas of Oregon. Additionally, she has served on the boards of the Association of American Geographers Cartography Specialty Group and GIS Specialty Group, and is current president of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society.
