Blue Marble Releases GeoCore an All-in-one Geospatial Data Conversion Developer Tool

Gardiner, Maine — May 04, 2009 — Blue Marble Geographics ( bluemarblegeo.com) announces the release of GeoCore, an all-in-one geospatial data translation toolkit that supports coordinate, geometry, vector, CAD, raster, and LIDAR data. GeoCore gives software developers the coordinate transformation and definition powers GIS experts have come to rely on with the GeoCalc library, plus the ability to handle all of your raster and vector file format and geometry needs with GeoTranslate and GeoTransform. One simple package, and one easy to use interface! Now you can use whatever pieces you need, when you need them, in a plug and play development environment.

GeoTranslate 5.0.1 and GeoTransform 6.0 are the vector and raster components of GeoCore. Blue Marble has supported geometry based format translation for well over a decade in our Geographic Translator desktop software and our GeoObjects developer tool kit. GeoTransform is the raster library that Blue Marble has been selling for almost fifteen years. Both tools are available as cross platform C++ libraries that will seamlessly interact with GeoCalc. With these toolkits, users can read and write many of today's most popular vector and raster file formats. Users are also granted direct access to a wide variety of geometry objects, which can be created and manipulated effortlessly. Along with these geometry objects, users are granted access to the metadata and attributes that are commonly associated with these geometries. Additionally this architecture makes it easy for users to write their own file format support out of the box. Raster capabilities include components for embedding read, write, compression, and manipulation of many of today's standard GIS raster image file formats. This toolkit also adds powerful mosaicking and tiling capabilities to the single image transformation interface. New clipping interfaces allow you to manage, manipulate, and process large datasets like never before.

Additionally coordinate definition and manipulation support in GeoCore comes from GeoCalc 6.4, the latest offering of our coordinate transformation "engine" that performs on-the-fly coordinate transformations as well as geodetic calculations. When used within any GPS, surveying, engineering, or mapping system, GeoCalc provides highly accurate and dependable geographic coordinate transformations and geodetic calculations. GeoCalc employs a high-level parametric database model to efficiently store and retrieve coordinate system, map projection, ellipsoid, geodetic datum transformation, and unit parameters. If you care about highly accurate mapping, then GeoCalc is essential for your product or project.

"GeoCore is a total Geospatial data transformation developer toolkit," states Patrick Cunningham, President of Blue Marble Geographics. "This release is a combination of our most powerful GIS format and geometry object transformation tools and now developers can embed all of this technology seamlessly for one low package price."
