Well aware of the growing demand for lifelike experience, Dassault Systemes is, only a few weeks after launching 3DVIA Virtools 5, demonstrating its virtual reality capabilities and the relevance of VR outside “traditional” VR audiences. Already a well-known interactive game development platform, 3DVIA Virtools 5 highlights the broad appeal of 3D interactive and virtual reality experiences to the general consumer, as well as a wide range of industrial-specific application needs, like design reviews, virtual shopping experiences, simulation-based training, advergaming, sales configurators and more.
“Virtual reality is an important part of 3DVIA Virtools and the larger Dassault Systemes vision. The aim is to make VR and interactive immersive 3D accessible to a broader public, combining consumer VR applications and high ended professional needs,” said David Nahon, Dassault Systemes Immersive Virtuality Domain Leader. “To demonstrate this, we invite Laval Virtual visitors to discover several stunning applications made with 3DVIA Virtools by our users that explore the possibilities of VR, and immersive 3D.”
3DVIA Virtools is a complete development and deployment platform for virtual environments, game and interactive 3D applications. 3DVIA Virtools 5 significantly eases the development process and makes delivering high-quality 3D projects faster. It supplements the Virtools Scripting Language (VSL) with Lua support, making the product even more accessible to a larger group of developers. Other 3DVIA Virtools 5 enhancements include blendshape support, new ergonomics, as well as improved usability, easy object manipulation and new libraries of professional quality 3D assets.
This version also brings new VR capabilities going towards consumer VR, by supporting Samsung and Mitsubishi DLP TVs, Philips WoW auto-stereoscopic screens and anaglyph stereoscopy.
3DVIA Virtools 5 will be showcased at Laval Virtual 2009, April 22-24, at booth A3-A6. Visitors will also be able to experience more than 20 applications “powered by 3DVIA Virtools” on partners’ booths.
