Leica Geosystems Introduces the Leica TS30 - Precision Re-Defined Again

Norcross - April 20, 2009 - Leica Geosystems’ tradition of providing unparalleled accuracy and performance continues with the introduction of the Leica TS30 high precision robotic total station. The new 0.5” Leica TS30 high precision robotic total station sets new industry standards for surveying applications by combining the highest accuracy and unmatched dynamic tracking performance.

“This instrument creates a new category of precision surveying instruments.” says Shannon Hixon, Director of Product marketing for the TS30. “Surveyors now have access to the highest level of accuracy without sacrificing performance in a standard robotic environment. World class speed, power and accuracy are all present in the TS30.. There are no compromises in this instrument."

0.5” angle accuracy – 0.6 mm distance accuracy

The Leica TS30 offers accurate angle measurements of 0.5” to meet highest standards in all surveying applications. Distances can now be measured with Leica Geosystems’ proven PinPoint EDM Technology with an unprecedented precision of 0.6 mm + 1 ppm on prisms. On natural surfaces a high accuracy of 2 mm + 2 ppm up to 1,000 meters is achieved.

Unmatched Dynamic Tracking Performance

To achieve maximum acceleration and speed while maintaining optimal accuracy under the most demanding conditions, new direct drives using Piezo technology were developed for the Leica TS30. The new Piezo technology allows automated one-person surveying to benefit from higher productivity through uninterrupted tracking in all dynamic environments.

Flexible Multi-Setup possibilities including GNSS functionality

Leica TS30 surveyors benefit from more than just a robotic total station as the TS30 represents one component of the industries most complete portfolio of solutions for precise surveying. Leica Geosystems’ scalable hardware sensor philosophy together with the Leica SmartWorx software enables users to customize the TS30 to a TS30 SmartStation setup by adding a Leica future proof GNSS antenna delivering immediate station coordinates or use the same GNSS antenna on top of Leica’s 360° prism as a SmartPole which allows quick and accurate setups on-the-fly to further enhance speed and productivity.

Long service intervals and low power consumption

The Leica TS30 is designed to withstand the roughest use in the most severe environments while maintaining factory specified accuracy and performance. The long service interval and low maintenance costs maximize productivity and the new Piezo drives ensure longer operation through low power consumption with intelligent on-demand power management.
