In a presentation at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, Intergraph Director of Global Utilities and Communications Tony DiMarco will explore an often neglected topic surrounding Smart Grid - the control center. The ever-expanding amount of information flooding in from new smart devices and automation technologies is presenting Smart Grid operators with a new challenge in the control center. In his presentation, DiMarco will explore this information overload challenge and discuss new technologies that enable Smart Grid operators to control their entire distribution network from one consolidated graphical user interface, providing a seamless environment for outage, mobile workforce and distribution management. With a consolidated operations environment for the Smart Grid, operators can better communicate with field resources and make faster, more informed decisions that dramatically increase efficiency, customer service and safety.

In a second Intergraph presentation at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, Brimmer Sherman, director of business development for Utilities & Communications and Kecia Pierce, industry manager for Utilities & Communications, will demonstrate customer case studies in which consolidating and delivering back office applications to the field have significantly boosted the ROI of technology investments. Removing roadblocks to communication both to and from the field not only accelerates information flow, enhances productivity and cuts costs, but it also increases data integrity, leading to better customer service and improved safety. Intergraph provides a single mobile platform for optimizing the use of mission-critical applications in the field, including outage management, inspection, damage assessment, critical infrastructure protection, field design and vegetation management.

"By providing a comprehensive, integrated platform of infrastructure and operations management solutions, Intergraph enables utilities to more easily embrace Smart Grid and advanced technologies for future success," said Jay Stinson, vice president of Utilities & Communications for Intergraph. "To meet rising energy and conservation demands while keeping costs down and customers satisfied, utilities need to adopt both 'smart' technologies and a means of efficiently managing and leveraging them across the enterprise. Intergraph Smart Grid solutions combine outage, mobile workforce and distribution management capabilities into a single user environment for optimal efficiency."
