Sarnoff to Demo Acadia® II Vision Processor at SPIE DSS

PRINCETON, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 13, 2009 Sarnoff Corporation today announced that it will demo Acadia® II, the world’s most powerful system-on-a-chip (SoC) for real-time, portable, and low-power processing of multiple vision sensors. Continuous, live demonstrations of Acadia II sensor fusion and processing capabilities will be held at booth number 1238 at the SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing show, April 14-16.

Developed with the support of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under the MANTIS program, Acadia II is the next step in Sarnoff’s groundbreaking Acadia line of vision processors, providing even better performance and features including real-time video enhancement, stabilization, mosaicking, multi-sensor video fusion, stereo range estimation, and image feature detection.

Combined with ARM Quad Core processors, the Acadia II ASIC can act as a CPU for the systems it supports. This SoC can take over the processing functions that in the past required additional components.

“Acadia II is the breakthrough those with integrated vision processing needs have been waiting for,” said Mark Clifton, Vice President, Products and Services at Sarnoff. “With more processing power, smaller size, and less energy consumption, don’t think of it as putting Acadia II in your system. The approach is to put your system on Acadia II.”

Integration with Acadia II allows customers to develop more powerful and advanced solutions for next-generation requirements such as portable and wearable vision systems; security and surveillance platforms; manned and unmanned aerial and ground vehicles; small arms, border and perimeter protection; and vision-aided GPS-denied navigation.
