PLM User Initiative offers free on-site visits

Oxford, England. March 26, 2009
PLM makes life easier and more productive for everyone involved in the product lifecycle, except for those who are implementing it. For the PLM team, the more successful they are, the more their workload increases.

If the benefits that PLM gives to the rest of the business could be applied to PLM itself, then implementations would become more effective.

The aim of the PLM User Initiative is to bring together the vast amount of user expertise within companies in the USA and Europe so that this can happen. It will formalise best practice so that PLM management processes are streamlined and effective; generate straightforward management tools to eliminate the time-wasting issues; and enable existing knowledge and experience to be re-used.

As part of its interaction with the PLM user community, the User Initiative is offering free one-day, on-site visits that cover:-

  • Overview of User Initiative content
  • Current body of PLM knowledge
  • PLM tools for Self-Assessment, Benchmarking and Roadmapping
  • How to establish metrics
  • Review of your own company PLM environment
  • Working session on PLM issues and targets

The initial geographical coverage will be the USA and Europe, arranged to optimise the logistics. The PLMIG invites companies to request more information or register their interest via Email Contact.

The PLM Interest Group
The PLM Interest Group is a global Group which brings together its members to work proactively to solve their PLM problems. It has previously run workshops that have produced the PLM Benchmarking Handbook; the PLM-SCM Guidebook; and the PLM Maturity Reference Manual.
