Farnborough, UK 23rd March 2009 - Autodesk has announced its sponsorship of this year’s GSDI World Conference to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on 15 – 19 June 2009. The theme is Spatial Data Infrastructure Convergence: Building SDI Bridges to Address Global Challenges and Autodesk is supporting the event as a Platinum sponsor.
Autodesk’s investment in the conference demonstrates its strengthening role in the geospatial business area – in particular, supporting local governments manage their meta-data to meet INSPIRE directives and using its technology and experience to help them integrate GIS and CAD into a single source of centralised information. Autodesk is also currently extending its partnerships in this area to help further build on its expertise and knowledge to help customers move from theory to practice and so take advantage of current opportunities.
“We see the convergence of geospatial data as key to future progress in this sector. By this we mean the blending of different forms of data such as GIS and CAD and also the sharing of information across geographical boundaries,” says Miikka Arala, head of marketing, Autodesk Infrastructure Modelling, Northern Europe.
“Anyone in local government, commercial engineering firms, utilities or telecoms addressing the many pressing global challenges should mark these dates in their diaries now. It will be an excellent opportunity to share knowledge and experiences and network with many of the leading players in the field.”
