Intergraph is proud to announce Tom Brokaw, one of the most trusted and respected figures in broadcast journalism, as the featured keynote speaker for Intergraph 2009, our annual international users’ conference to be held in Washington, D.C., June 15-18, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.

Tom Brokaw

Tom Brokaw has experienced firsthand what most of us only read or hear about. He reported live from the scene the night the Berlin Wall fell. He patrolled the streets of Baghdad after the fall of Saddam Hussein. And he was the only network evening news anchor to report from Normandy, France, during the D-Day 60th Anniversary ceremonies.

Mr. Brokaw began his journalism career in Omaha, Nebraska, and Atlanta, Georgia, before joining NBC News in 1966. Brokaw was the White House correspondent for NBC during Watergate, and from 1976 to 1981 he anchored “Today” on NBC. He was the sole anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw” from 1983 to 2005. Brokaw has won every major award in broadcast journalism, including two DuPonts, a Peabody, and several Emmys.

His craft has taken him around the world – Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, France, Tibet, and more – where he’s met and interviewed world leaders, including Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev, French President Jacques Chirac, Pakistan President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, and the Dalai Lama, to name a few. He has interviewed every U.S. president since Lyndon B. Johnson, and his involvement in 25 documentaries covers subjects as diverse as race, AIDS, the War on Terror, Los Angeles gangs, Bill Gates, literacy, and immigration.

Complementing his distinguished broadcast journalism career, Tom Brokaw has authored five bestsellers: The Greatest Generation, The Greatest Generation Speaks, An Album of Memories, A Long Way from Home, and BOOM! Voices of the Sixties.

It is these life experiences that makes Tom Brokaw especially suited to speak to Intergraph customers regarding the current challenging economic times, world events impacting our industries, and our ability to power the future.
