“Rafay Khan will play a key role in driving the next phase of DigitalGlobe’s international expansion,” said DigitalGlobe president and CEO Jill Smith. “His experience building and leading strategic alliances and partnerships in the location-based services, consumer electronics and GPS navigation industries will be a strategic asset for DigitalGlobe as we continue to move into key verticals and new geographies.”
Most recently, Khan was the Asia Pacific vice president of business development and sales for NAVTEQ, a world leader in digital map data. During his seven-year tenure, he drove NAVTEQ’s expansion in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East and Russia.
“Portals, governments, consumer navigation corporations and defense organizations are driving world-imagery demand around the globe,” said Khan. “This is a timely opportunity for DigitalGlobe to expand its global footprint, making its digital imagery more accessible to more people in more ways.”
Khan’s appointment, coupled with recent office expansions in London and Singapore, reinforces DigitalGlobe’s commitment to provide greater levels of international sales, operations and marketing support to its international territories. In addition, DigitalGlobe recently signed a new lease for expanded office space in Longmont, CO and new offices in Walnut Creek, CA.
