McGraw-Hill Construction and Meridian Systems Partner to Deliver Integrated Project and Document Management Tools

Collaboration provides cost-savings and interoperability to AEC firms and building owners

New York, NY - February 12, 2009 - McGraw-Hill Construction, part of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), today announced an alliance with Meridian Systems, the market share leader for construction project management software, that will provide more streamlined tools for managing digital program and project controls, project documents, and construction information.

Lack of interoperability is estimated to cost the U.S. construction industry $15.8 billion every year; thus, getting systems to work together is a top priority for architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms and owners. McGraw-Hill Construction and Meridian are determined to solve interoperability issues faced by AEC clients, starting with connecting their software solutions.

McGraw-Hill Construction's Project Document Manager (PDM) is a document management system that pulls content from the McGraw-Hill Construction Network®, powered by the Dodge database. Meridian provides program and project management (PPM) software, including Prolog® and Proliance®. As part of the alliance, the companies' will integrate Meridian PPM software with the McGraw-Hill Construction Network® and PDM, creating the only connected and interoperable construction information and project/document management solution available today.

"The design and construction industry is experiencing an unprecedented information and technology transformation," said Norbert W. Young, Jr., president, McGraw-Hill Construction. "The goal of our collaboration with Meridian is to help AEC stakeholders effectively integrate the multitude of disconnected information sources and software applications used across our industry. Construction is a team sport, and now it's going to be easier to share critical information with all project team members."

"By leveraging our industry and thought leadership, Meridian and McGraw-Hill Construction can better address industry program and project management interoperability issues," said John Bodrozic, Meridian president and cofounder. "Through the integration between Meridian solutions and PDM, our customers gain value with better business efficiencies both internally and with their external supply chain."

McGraw-Hill and Meridian's integrated PDM and PPM systems equip users with a more efficient way to manage the entire workflow process, from design development to bidding, project management, project close-out, and operations- saving time and resources. PDM also integrates with local, on-demand reprographic services, so documents can be easily routed to nearby printers for printing and shipping. Other key benefits include:

•·         Increased project intelligence through McGraw-Hill Construction Network news, plans and specs

•·         Reduced project start-up time and simplified processes in Prolog and Proliance

•·         Easier communication with non-users and universal access to bid packages, RFIs and submittals

•·         Improved bidding process accuracy and reduced costs by ensuring all subcontractors have correct information

•·         Easy, quick and intuitive access to project documents

•·         Secure tracking and digital management of transactions which reduces risks

•·         Increased overall efficiency and reduced hard copy distribution costs

•·         Improved business relationships by offering integrated PDM and PPM as a differentiator
