Masternaut Three X launches GPS emergency alarm wristwatch

Leeds, UK—February 09, 2009—An innovative emergency alarm watch with GPS tracking and an integrated mobile phone has been launched by satellite tracking firm Masternaut Three X. Designed as a discreet personal protection solution, the robust and waterproof LoKate wrist watch incorporates a miniature mobile phone and GPS receiver with a panic button allowing mobile workers to alert help discreetly if in danger.

Using the in-built tracker linked to the Internet, the alarm location is immediately pinpointed on Microsoft Virtual Earth maps or aerial photography by a dedicated control centre that monitors the user around the clock, seven days a week. The control centre can then alert the emergency services or another member of staff that assistance is required. Additional reassurance is provided as the watch doubles as a mobile phone offering voice communication.

LoKate runs over the established Masternaut vehicle and mobile asset satellite tracking service with voice and data communications handled by a standard GSM/GPRS network. The innovative watch is ideal for all types of lone worker situation, including field engineers, social workers, drivers, sales personnel, estate agents and property surveyors, and security services. The wrist watch allows them to keep in touch with HQ at the touch of a button. Wearers can be tracked in real-time using any Internet browser enabling office-based managers and support personnel to monitor field-based colleagues.

Other lone worker options offered by Masternaut Three X include a user-friendly, fixed-mount in-cab system. The in-cab fixed solution connects to a Masternaut Three X Mobile Communications Unit. When pressed, an alert is transmitted which can then be forwarded to a nominated SMS number or e-mail address with a predefined message. The company also offers centrally controlled remote monitoring alerting fleet controllers to unusual activity such as theft or hijack and the automatic notification of entry into barred areas that may be unsafe or unauthorised.

“The importance of ensuring that lone workers are safe cannot be underestimated. Companies have a duty of care to field-based personnel and, with mobile working become increasingly important to many sectors, solutions like LoKate provide security and confidence to lone workers particularly as these are monitored and can provide immediate assistance,” said Martin Port, MD, Masternaut Three X.
