Vizrt Offers Hi-Res Maps of Gaza and Washington, D.C. at No Cost through Partner Digital Globe

Free Map Download Offer Draws Impressive Response from TV Stations Covering Gaza Conflict and U.S. Presidential Inaugural

Bergen, Norway, Vizrt Ltd. (Frankfurt Prime Standard, Oslo Main List: VIZ) - January 26, 2009 - Vizrt is offering high-resolution maps of Gaza and Washington, D.C. for free to television broadcasters to generate branded, animated map imagery for their newscasts. Through Vizrt’s partnership with Digital Globe, a leading provider of high-resolution world imagery solutions based in Longmont, Col., the Gaza and Washington, D.C. map packages are available for free download from http://www.digitalglobe.com

Once downloaded, the maps immediately “plug-and-play" within each station’s Viz Curious Maps system to create stylized maps that can zoom from the station’s geographical location directly to the streets of Gaza or Washington, D.C. These particular regions are central to two of the hottest news stories of 2009: the conflict in Gaza and the Inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama.

Within 24 hours of notifying customers that the Washington, D.C. imagery was available for free download via Digital Globe, more than 50 TV stations had downloaded the image file. And within 48 hours of posting the Gaza map package, over 100 TV stations downloaded it.

“The response from TV stations to this free offer was quick and massive,” said Francois Laborie, Vizrt’s executive vice president of marketing. “We’re pleased to support the efforts of our broadcast customers to offer their viewers very detailed, informative coverage of these historically significant news events.”

Viz Curious Maps is a complementary part of Vizrt’s family of industry-leading broadcast graphics solutions, including Viz Trio character generators, Viz Content Pilot, Viz Weather, Viz Traffic, and Viz Artist.
