“One of the greatest successes to come out of this region’s GPRC’s is our LCD TV integrated power solution. This design integrates power factor correction, an AC-DC power supply and a DC-AC backlight inverter directly from the PFC output. It eliminates one stage of power conversion, increases efficiency and reduces total system cost. Fairchild has provided this reference design for LCD TVs to some of China’s leading LCD TV manufacturers,” said Spencer Fanchiang, Fairchild’s senior manager, Global Power Resource Centre, Asia Pacific.
“Our team at our GPRC in Shenzhen built the reference design entirely from products in the Fairchild portfolio. Products incorporated include: PFC ICs, PWM and FPS™ devices, backlight control ICs, MOSFETs, optocouplers and HVICs. The benefit for our customers is immeasurable, as we have been able to design and develop a local solution for domestic suppliers that meets their needs,” concluded Fanchiang.
