FISHER/UNITECH Announces “No Engineer Left Behind” A Local Community Service Program for Displaced Workers

TROY, Mich.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—January 20, 2009— FISHER/UNITECH announced today a major investment into its local markets that will provide displaced designers and engineers professional development via a comprehensive community service program entitled “No Engineer Left Behind.” This program offers candidates the opportunity to gain valuable industry skills via a three-step process: attend a three-day Introduction to SolidWorks course, receive an evaluation copy of SolidWorks 2009 Office Professional 3D CAD software for skill enhancement and potentially be placed at a FISHER/UNITECH customer site for an unpaid 30-day internship. The company estimates its investment in this program to be over $250,000 of in-kind value.

No Engineer Left Behind is a free service available to displaced workers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas. FISHER/UNITECH has scheduled its Introduction to SolidWorks course in each of its ten branch offices, one per month February through April 2009, reserved strictly for this program. Candidates must be unemployed due to downsizing as a result of the economy. Upon completion of the course, the candidate will receive SolidWorks software that they may use for one month. Their contact information will then be provided to existing FISHER/UNITECH customers who have previously agreed to participate in this unique program. Online registration is available on the company’s website at http://www.funtech.com/s.nl/sc.8/category.2476/ctype.SS/SS.2476/.f. Acceptance into the program is on a first-come, first-served basis, and candidates must meet the qualifications of being displaced within the previous 12 months from a position where they were using either 2D or 3D CAD tools.

“We are very proud to announce our program No Engineer Left Behind and what it offers to the local manufacturing communities we serve throughout the Midwest,” said Charles Hess, president of FISHER/UNITECH. “Our objective is to help others in our industry segment not only by our contributions, but through our partners and customers. We appreciate the incredible positive response we have received from them. Their provision of internships and software will allow displaced engineers to gain valuable field experience with new technology.”
