Optech to Host First Innovative Lidar Solutions Conference

November 04, 2008 -- Toronto , CanadaOptech Incorporated, the leading manufacturer of advanced lidar survey instruments, announced today that its first Innovative Lidar Solutions Conference (ILSC) will be held in Toronto on June 24-26, 2009. An initial call for papers has been issued.

Lidar data is widening its role in applications ranging from remote sensing to emergency services management and homeland security. The ILSC 2009 will focus on an open forum for industry professionals to discuss best practices and explore “real-world” lidar solutions. Topics of special interest will include how to use lidar hardware systems to maximize accuracy, improve efficiency and solve unique application challenges. There will also be a special focus on the implementation of Optech’s various lidar sensors for application solutions.

“In previous years a user’s conference was adequate to serve our customers’ needs,” said Brent Gelhar, Vice President, Sales and Product Strategy. “With the evolution of our newest products, ranging from ultra-compact airborne scanners and bathymetric systems through to static and mobile terrestrial scanners, the need for a wider forum has been expressed by our existing and potential clients. The focus of this conference is to communicate practical solutions to problems rather than the academic subjects regularly available in many other well-known meetings.”

Both users and potential users of Optech technologies are welcome to submit papers. You are also welcome to register if you simply wish to attend to learn more about the role of lidar in solving your surveying needs. More information is available on Optech's website.
