Pitney Bowes MapInfo appoints sales director to extend location intelligence portfolio to retail, insurance and banking verticals

Chief technology officer and sales manager for retail, manufacturing and services at Microsoft moves to new role with the world’s leading location-intelligence specialists

Windsor – 16 October 2008: Pitney Bowes MapInfo, part of Pitney Bowes Inc., (NYSE: PBI) today announces the appointment of Stephen Deaville to Sales Director for the Retail, Insurance and Banking industry, based at Pitney Bowes MapInfo in Windsor.

A strong technical sales leader with in-depth experience of solutions-based selling of technology within large enterprise organisations, Deaville is charged with building Pitney Bowes MapInfo’s retail, insurance and banking sectors and developing location intelligence solutions within those key markets. With over eight years experience as a sales manager, lead retail technology strategist and chief technology officer for retail, manufacturing and services at Microsoft; Deaville was responsible for co-ordinating pan-European sales campaigns and ensuring a delivery target of over $280m. With prior experience working with Pegasystems Ltd and Allied Dunbar Assurance Plc, Deaville’s unparalleled credentials will equip him to spearhead Pitney Bowes MapInfo’s retail, insurance and banking drive.

“In the current economic climate, organisations do not possess the resources to make growth investments,” says Deaville. “With such a challenge facing the retail industry, and the need never greater to build customer relationships and generate repeat business, more and more companies are turning to location intelligence for the answer. Whilst the credit crunch makes its impact across the world’s financial markets, maintaining and growing customer relationships is more critical than ever within the UK’s financial services. With the help of proven predictive analytics tools, Pitney Bowes MapInfo is able to demonstrate how demographics and location-based information are key to accurately targeting consumers. With this advanced level of demographic analysis, businesses are able to more accurately identify the people most likely to use their business and become long-term customers.

“Location intelligence solutions offer organisations critical insights into their business and enable them to make insightful decisions. This role presents exciting challenges and opportunities, but most importantly, an opportunity to make a positive impact on an industry under increasing competitive pressure.”

Commenting on the appointment, Gary Roberts, UK General Manager at Pitney Bowes MapInfo, to who Stephen reports, said: “Stephen brings unimpeachable credentials, experience and standing to the industry, and we’re delighted to have him on board.

“A location intelligent strategy is paramount to all enterprise organisations in good times and bad. Stephen is well placed to articulate the added value of data, decision support analytics, performance management software, data flow systems and consultancy services that Pitney Bowes MapInfo brings to retail, insurance and banking decision makers today. These are critical tools for succeeding in a fluctuating global market.”
