Spatially Manage and Optimize Fleet Operations with ArcLogistics 9.3

ESRI's Fleet Management Solution Helps Organizations Save Fuel, Reduce Emissions, and Cut Costs

Redlands, California—October 7, 2008—ArcLogistics 9.3, ESRI's routing and scheduling solution for fleet management, is now available. ArcLogistics 9.3 improves on the company’s ArcLogistics Route 3 solution with significant usability enhancements and new capabilities to help organizations optimize their fleet operations. Businesses and governments with fleets of any size can use ArcLogistics 9.3 to build the most efficient routes and schedules.

"With rising fuel costs and growing concern for the environment, ArcLogistics 9.3 is a viable solution for any organization that has a fleet," says Jack Dangermond, president, ESRI. "ArcLogistics provides businesses and governments with the necessary tools to maximize the performance of their vehicle operations while saving fuel, reducing costs, and minimizing their carbon footprints."

ArcLogistics 9.3 helps organizations create optimal routes and schedules in a multistop/multivehicle environment using variables that reflect users' operational workflows such as vehicle capacity and driver specialty. With ArcLogistics, dispatchers can create strict time windows and increase operating efficiencies by assigning orders to vehicles based on the optimal stop sequences using actual street network drive times instead of measuring distance and ordering stops "as the crow flies."

With ArcLogistics 9.3, users will be able to send their optimized stops from the ArcLogistics desktop to ArcLogistics Navigator, ESRI's new in-vehicle navigation application. Drivers can also receive door-to-door directions and quickest- or shortest-route options while honoring logistics-specific road attributes such as turn restrictions and vehicle speeds. ESRI plans to release ArcLogistics Navigator with Service Pack 1 of ArcLogistics 9.3.

Existing ESRI software users benefit because ArcLogistics is built on ESRI’s ArcGIS platform. ArcLogistics is an ArcGIS Engine application and consumes Network Analyst solvers. Routing projects are now stored in a file geodatabase for virtually unlimited capacity. Users can export routing results as a network analysis layer for use in ArcGIS and ArcGIS Network Analyst, making ArcLogistics a data collection point for enterprise geographic information system (GIS) efforts and analysis.

"ArcLogistics 9.3 maintains the quick and easy routing and scheduling functionality of ArcLogistics Route 3 while adding many new capabilities that make it a powerful GIS tool," says Karl Terrey, ArcLogistics product manager, ESRI.
