September 29, 2008 -- Aurora, CO USA – Merrick & Company, a world leader in LiDAR, digital ortho imaging, photogrammetry, and geospatial solutions was awarded a parcel conversion project for the Texarkana Water Utility (TWU). The project was awarded in August 2008 and is expected to be completed in February 2009.
TWU is a joint department that serves two cities (Texarkana, Texas and Texarkana, Arkansas) in two states. TWU began using a geographic information system (GIS) in 1994 and was supported by Merrick in the development of the photogrammetric landbase. With the culmination of this parcel conversion project, the GIS users will have access to an integrated parcel database, for the first time. The new data will allow for more accurate assessment of property and improve the maintenance process for these records. In addition, the public will be able to access parcel data online and trips to the public counter will no longer be necessary.
