Learn How to Quickly Deploy GIS to the Field with the New ArcGIS Mobile 9.3 Application

Web Seminar Focuses on the New Out-of-the-Box ArcGIS Mobile Application and Enhancements to the ArcGIS Mobile Software Development Kit

Redlands, California—September 24, 2008—
A new, ready-to-use ArcGIS Mobile 9.3 application designed for Windows Mobile devices will make creating and deploying geographic information system (GIS) data, maps, tasks, and projects fast and easy. To learn more about the application and other feature enhancements the ESRI mobile GIS software platform will offer, tune in to the no-cost live training seminar, Introduction to ArcGIS Mobile 9.3, on October 2, 2008, at www.esri.com/lts. The seminar will air at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m. (Pacific daylight time).

ArcGIS Mobile is a software platform that gives organizations the ability to deliver GIS capabilities and data to and from the field via ArcGIS Server over wireless networks to a range of mobile devices. The latest release, ArcGIS Mobile 9.3, includes a configurable, out-of-the-box application designed to use on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 Pocket PCs to create and deploy GIS data, maps, tasks, and projects. The seminar presenters will describe how the mobile application works with ArcGIS Server to centrally manage data and maps, allowing users to update and share their information immediately.

The seminar also will cover what's new in the ArcGIS Mobile Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK now comes with enhanced map control rendering to support multiple data sources and graphic layers, improved data storage capabilities with support for large compressed basemaps, and expanded projections for nongrid-based ArcGIS projects.

The presenters will

  • Provide an overview of mobile GIS.
  • Introduce the new ArcGIS Mobile 9.3 application.
  • Explain how to set up ArcGIS Server for mobile use and configure and deploy mobile projects.
  • Highlight the enhancements to the ArcGIS Mobile SDK.
A broadband Internet connection and an ESRI Global Account are needed to watch the seminar. Creating a global account is easy and free; visit www.esri.com/lts, click Login, and register your name and address. A few weeks after the live presentation, the seminar will be archived and available for viewing on the ESRI Training and Education Web site.
