Sportsman’s Connection Creates Outdoor Maps with Label-EZ

September 04, 2008 -- Leading outdoor mapmaker Sportsman’s Connection ( www.scmaps.com) has selected MapText’s automatic text placement software, Label-EZ, for its map production operations.

Sportsman’s Connection generates a large number of maps across twelve states. They create detailed lake maps and fishing map guides. Their All-Outdoors Atlas & Field Guides contain maps created at twice the scale of other road atlases, which means double the detail. Their map books are used by people who like the great outdoors: fishing lakes and streams, hunting, camping, hiking and biking, snowmobiling, off-roading, paddling, skiing, golfing or wildlife viewing.

These outdoor sports maps have special name placement needs and Sportsman’s Connection was actively looking for a high-performance text placement solution to minimize the cost and increase productivity of their map production process. After rigorous evaluation, Sportsman’s Connection decided to integrate Label-EZ in their workflow. Map finishing averaged 4-5 hours per two-page spread with their old method; MapText's solution catapulted them to less than 1-2 hour(s) per two-page spread – a huge productivity gain.

“Label-EZ has provided huge gains to our productivity, greatly reducing the cost of getting our atlases to market. In addition, as we further refine the labeling specifications, we continue to see improvements and are then able to carry our setup easily to the next atlas.” Bob Day from Sportsman’s Connection commented.
