TENET’s MapRite PAI solution chosen to improve and maintain Scottish Borders Council’s critical spatial datasets

September 02, 2008 -- TENET’s MapRite PAI has been purchased to improve and maintain the accuracy of Scottish Borders Council spatial data, following the introduction of the PAI program by the Ordnance Survey.

Scottish Borders Council has a vast array of legacy digital geospatial data which has been captured relative to pre-PAI Landline mapping typified by varying degrees of spatial accuracy. In the interest of continued valid decision making, Scottish Borders Council appreciates the importance of the underlying GI being both current and accurate. Jon Laws, GIS project manager says “The drivers of the PAI shift coupled with a corporate GI publication quality relational database management system (RDBMS) has exposed the need to upgrade our GI. We have chosen TENET’s MapRite PAI to support this process.“

He continues “The key benefits of MapRite for Scottish Borders Council are its innate abilities to transform points, lines and polygons regardless of their absolute co-incidence with the original OS Land-line. This is further enhanced by MapRite’s set of predefined and customisable feature specific transformation settings. There is not an over-reliance on perfectly snapped original data to return a good OS MasterMap™ result with MapRite.

In addition, the software is to be used on an ongoing basis to improve the accuracy of current file based post PAI datasets prior to their migration to the corporate GI data store.”

TENET ‘s MapRite is the market-leading PAI solution provider, based upon an established product technology proven in over 135 organisations, including Local Authorities, Utilities and Central Government organisations for the re-alignment of assets. MapRite has been shown to provide a robust, scalable solution with the lowest cost of ownership for Positional Accuracy Improvement customers.
