Graphisoft Customer Holder Construction Wins Constructech Vision Award

Boston, MA — August 27, 2008 – Graphisoft customer Holder Construction recently won Constructech magazine’s Vision Award for its use of ArchiCAD Building Information Modeling (BIM) software in a large construction project.

The Constructech Vision Awards honor companies that have realized the advantages of applying innovative technologies to their everyday businesses, as well as the technology providers that helped them achieve their goal.

Holder won the Silver award in the Builder/General Contractor category for its Aquarium Hilton Garden Inn in Atlanta. The project demonstrated how general contractors can use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to enhance project teamwork, build faster and avoid costly change orders and field conflicts.

ArchiCAD is Graphisoft’s award-winning BIM software technology for 3D architectural modeling. Holder architects created 3D architectural, structural, and mechanical models in ArchiCAD from various 2D drawings provided by the architect, engineers and trade contractors. This approach enabled project team members to work with traditional CAD software they already had and knew, while reducing the risk that comes with using 2D documents among partners.

The Atlanta-based general contractor was honored at the 2008 award gala in Chicago, August 22, 2008.

"The 2008 Vision Awards winners exemplify the drive and innovation necessary to be successful in the construction industry," said Mike Carrozzo, editor of Constructech magazine. "As the impressive group of previous Vision Award winners have done, these companies have chosen to improve their businesses by implementing leading-edge technology solutions, serving their customers more efficiently. Each of them deserves the recognition they have achieved this evening."
