GB Tech Teams with Skylla Engineering to Win USGS Contract

July 31, 2008 -- Stennis Space Center, MS -- The team of GB Tech and Skylla Engineering was recently awarded a contract at NASA’s Stennis Space Center (SSC) to support the U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF). This contract will support the following HIF activities: testing, electronic repair, information management, logistics, and customer service. Additionally, GB Tech will perform calibration testing and provide technical support to field users as needed.

“We are very pleased that the USGS selected the GB Tech/Skylla Team and personally I am very excited about being involved at the operational level,” stated Tim Brogdon, GB Tech Program Manager. When asked about the relationship between GB Tech and Skylla Engineering Brogdon said, “GB Tech and Skylla make an excellent team because we both have the ultimate goal of complete customer satisfaction. When that’s the focus, you do what needs to be done to help your customer succeed in their mission.”

USGS is the principal Federal agency responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of hydrologic data needed to plan, develop, and manage the water resources of the United States, and its territories and possessions.

“We have a lot of experience supporting technical service contracts and we are looking forward to providing support for our new client, USGS,” said John Postorino, Skylla’s CEO.

The contract is a Set-Aside for Small Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB). Skylla Engineering is a SDVOB with a rich history of supporting military programs and technical services. GB Tech is a small business with a distinguished history of supporting NASA as well as commercial activities. The team began providing support to USGS’ HIF on July 1, 2008, adding nineteen employees to the Stennis-area workforce.

The Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) at NASA's Stennis Space Center operates laboratory facilities that are unique among the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) activities and support USGS hydrologic data-collection.
