NAVTEQ Licensed Reseller Status awarded to ESRI Ireland

July 31, 2008 -- NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, has confirmed that ESRI Ireland has been given NAVTEQ Licensed Reseller status for both the Republic and Northern Ireland.

Specialists in geographic information systems (GIS), ESRI Ireland has developed excellent relationships with ESRI technology users in Ireland and the company’s installations can be found in a wide range of markets including Central Government, Local Government and Private Sector. Data is a fundamental component to the successful implementation of GIS solutions and systems and, “this new agreement means we can supply, distribute and integrate NAVTEQ mapping and additional content enabling customers to develop mission critical applications utilising ESRI software and a navigable street level geographic database,” observed Paul Synott, Head of Sales at ESRI Ireland.

Following extensive testing and quality analysis, ESRI Ireland believes NAVTEQ offers the most reliable and up to date street level mapping and its commitment to field verification is key to the consistent quality. The NAVTEQ database of both Northern Ireland and the Republic is fully established and mature and, with a permanent base on the borders, the company can continue to efficiently maintain the data as well as adding new content.

“Fleet management, geomarketing, business intelligence and internet mapping are just some of the solutions which will benefit from the NAVTEQ database,” added Attilio Petrini, Account Manager for Transport & Logistics at ESRI Ireland. “For example, our ArcLogistics advanced scheduling and route optimisation software will include NAVTEQ Irish road network data. The detail and precision of this data, which includes access restrictions, allows for accurate time and distance estimates to be considered in the scheduling calculations.”

ESRI Ireland provides total GIS solutions including software packages and a full range of tailored services and is constantly looking for new ways to help customers maximise their investment in terms of application and integration. The company recognises the importance of working with organisations like NAVTEQ which complement its products and services to the ultimate benefit of the customer.

“We are looking forward to working closely with ESRI Ireland to address the data requirements of the Irish GIS community,” commented Peter Beaumont, NAVTEQ Customer Marketing Director Enterprise Europe. “Many organisations are now investing in navigation as a key technology to improve business efficiency, reduce costs and, importantly, provide higher levels of customer service. By integrating navigation solutions with applications such as call centres, scheduling tools or asset management, significantly higher returns on investment can be achieved.”
