JLG Industries Standardizes on PTC Windchill for PLM

NEEDHAM, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June 9, 2008— PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company®, today announced that JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation Company and a leading provider of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, has standardized on Windchill PDMLink® and Windchill ProjectLink for product lifecycle management (PLM). Windchill, the PTC product data management and project management solution, helps companies control product development data and enable internal and external product development collaboration. The adoption of Windchill by JLG Industries is an expansion of its existing relationship with PTC, as the company is a long-standing user of Pro/ENGINEER for product design.

Faced with the challenge of geographically dispersed design and manufacturing locations, JLG required a solution that would allow them to leverage the benefits of global product development and enhance productivity worldwide. JLG chose to standardize on Windchill 8.0 because of Windchill PDMLink and its CAD data management enhancements, as well as its enterprise change management capabilities and the collaborative capabilities of Windchill ProjectLink.

Together with Pro/ENGINEER, Windchill, provides JLG with an integral Product Development System (PDS) that delivers the collaboration and data management capabilities needed to speed time-to-market, increase product quality, and reduce product development costs. JLG has additionally selected PTC University as a training vehicle to help its teams improve proficiency with their use of PTC products.

PTCs Pro/INTRALINK® product served us well but we required a global enterprise web-based solution with CAD data management capabilities that would allow us to fully capitalize on our global product development initiative, said Wayne MacDonald, senior vice president of engineering, JLG Industries. Although CAD Data Management with Windchill PDMLink is a maturing application we believe that Windchill will help us achieve our product development initiatives by strengthening our collaboration and data management capabilities across our cross-functional development teams.

Optimizing product development processes in a globally distributed environment is a common challenge for manufacturing companies like JLG, notes Joshua Fredburg, vice president, product and market strategy, PTC. Windchill provides a superior solution for managing complex data in this environment and enables effective collaboration across product development teams.
