JavaOne Conference Announces General Session Speakers From AMD, Intel Corporation, Motorola, Inc., Oracle Corporation and Sun Microsystems

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAVA), today announced the speakers for the 2008 JavaOne(SM) conference General Sessions, as well as details on JavaOne conference Pavilion villages, areas of the exhibit hall focused around particular themes. The 2008 JavaOne conference offers attendees a unique opportunity to hear from industry leaders and other technology experts - those programming directly in Java(TM) technology and those looking at it from new perspectives including scripting, RIA, open source and more. Once again, John Gage, chief researcher and director of the Science Office at Sun, will return as the host for the 2008 JavaOne conference. Startup Exhibitor Alley

Host companies that are first-time participants in the Conference. Java(TM) Platform Micro Edition (Java ME) is the most ubiquitous mobile application platform powering eight out of 10 mobile devices. Attendees can experience the most compelling and successful mobile services powered by Java ME, interact with industry experts, find out about the latest in developer tools and resources or just hang out in the Digital TV Living Room to see how Java ME is powering Blu-ray devices, set-top boxes, DVRs, and IPTV. In addition, by visiting the Mobility and Device Village Information Counter and obtaining ME Treasure Hunt cards, attendees have a chance to win one of the daily prizes.

Community Corner - Sponsored by java.net

This village gives attendees the opportunity to share their thoughts on Java technology, meet and chat with developers, community leaders, project owners, Java User Group members and Java Champions. Attendees interested in a programming challenge can participate in the RoboHACC, which involves programming and obstacle course solution algorithm for Systronix TrackBots powered by a Sun(TM) Small Programmable Object Technology (Sun(TM) SPOT) application. In addition, the Community Corner will have Mini Talk sessions on java.net projects and communities, every half hour during Pavilion hours. SOA Village

New for 2008, the SOA Village is dedicated to Java technology-based tools and services for SOA implementations. Information on participating vendors is available at the SOA Village welcome kiosk, along with complimentary copies of Java SOA Connection, a custom publication co-sponsored by Sun Microsystems and Extension Media, featuring SOA case studies, best-practice tutorials and other educational content from the Java software community.
