January 28, 2008 -- (Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an award-winning leader in the information technology industry specializing in geospatial solutions, has been selected by Southwestern Electric Cooperative Inc. (Southwestern Electric) of Greenville, Ill., to provide geographic information systems (GIS)-based services that will help the cooperative improve efficiency and safety.
For this project, GeoDecisions will provide a variety of geospatial services, including data updates and boundary placement, among other services. A significant aspect of the project involves a comprehensive review of the electric direction of flow and connectivity to improve the safety of the cooperative’s linemen.
Future enhancements to the project may include developing customized GIS-based applications that will provide Southwestern Electric with automated, specialized tools to help the electrical cooperative function more efficiently.
GeoDecisions’ services are anticipated to benefit the 24 substations and approximately 20,000 members that make up the Southwestern Electric service area.
