(Oct. 5, 2007/Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an award-winning leader in the information technology industry specializing in geographic information systems (GIS), recently won the 2007 Center for Digital Government Achievement Award in the Best of the Web’s Government-to-Government category for the design of The Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP). The Best of the Web program honors outstanding government portals and Web sites based on their innovations, functionality, and efficiencies.
GeoDecisions teamed with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Bureau of Planning and Research to develop and implement the LTAP Web site. It was designed to help the Commonwealth’s municipalities efficiently access tools for training, personalized assistance, events, and conferences. Through the Web site, the PennDOT LTAP program has trained and assisted approximately 6,000 municipal employees per year in effective and efficient maintenance procedures, essential safety practices, and infrastructure management processes.
The LTAP site is helping municipalities to improve Pennsylvania’s transportation operations, provide a standard infrastructure for management processes, and maximize roadway maintenance dollars. Additionally, this Web site was successfully implemented under budget, a testament to quality design and development.
