LOUIS -- A big week of events highlighting St. Louis as the national center for geospatial technology is on tap starting Monday, September 9. “GeoFutures Week” will bring leaders in geospatial technology to St. Louis from around the country for a series of events showcasing St. Louis’ leadership in the sector.

“St. Louis is a thriving geospatial community where business, government, academia, and the community are all working together to make our region the global center for geospatial technology,” said Maggie Kost, Chief Business Attraction Officer for Greater St. Louis, Inc. “GeoFutures Week brings geospatial leaders to St. Louis to see firsthand how we are building the nation’s center for the technology right here.”

Highlights from GeoFutures Week include Geo-Resolution 2024, the annual conference sponsored by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and Saint Louis University and supported by the Taylor Geospatial Institute; the TGI Expo; the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation Women As Leaders Breakfast; and the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G NA) Conference. St. Louis’ Jim McKelvey will deliver the keynote address at the FOSS4G NA Business-to-Business session Monday afternoon.

Geo-Resolution 2024

Thursday, Sept. 12 – Geo-Resolution 2024 provides the opportunity for collaboration among geospatial experts and students in government, academia, and industry. This year’s Geo-Resolution conference focuses on the development and application of geospatial models, such as digital twins, that can be used to address some of the world’s most critical challenges. Geo-Resolution runs from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Busch Student Center on the campus of Saint Louis University. ( Register Now)

TGI Expo

Thursday, Sept. 12 – Those attending Geo-Resolution 2024 should also plan to attend the Taylor Geospatial Institute Expo, which will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on site at SLU’s Busch Student Center. At the TGI Expo, attendees can meet leaders from government, industry, and academia and see how they’re applying geospatial innovation to address pressing global challenges, pushing the bounds of geospatial research and education, and building the geospatial workforce of the future. The TGI Expo is free and open to all, but you’re encouraged to register for and attend the Geo-Resolution conference also taking place on Sept. 12.

USGIF Women as Leaders Breakfast Series Seminar #3

Wednesday, Sept. 11 – USGIF presents the return of this popular three-part workshop on understanding the challenges and barriers that women leaders face. The workshop will offer participants tools and strategies to help realize the vision of a truly inclusive workplace. The breakfast event is the third in the three-part series and will take place at 8:00–11:00 a.m. at Greater St. Louis, Inc. The event is open to all, but registration is required. ( Register)

Mon.-Wed., Sept. 9-11 – FOSS4G NA is the premier open geospatial technology and business conference with a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for technologists, end users, academics, and decision makers. Following GeoFutures Week, St. Louis will again be in the geospatial spotlight, as the largest annual gathering of global industry leaders from the sector will return to America’s Center for GEOINT Symposium 2025 in May of next year.
