Led by Onx CEO and Cofounder Ash Bhardwaj, the launch and factory tour was attended by local and national media, housing experts and advocates, academics, technologists, sustainability experts and influencers, as well as elected officials, including building commissioners, South Florida Manufacturers Association President Matthew Rocco and Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin.

“The X+ Construction Systems Factory launch is the linchpin to our future progress,” said Bhardwaj. “It brings together our proprietary technology and showcases our proven ability to use X+ Construction to deliver resilient homes with speed and drive lower ownership costs to new homeowners. We believe technology is the solution to solving the ongoing housing shortage, the impact of natural disasters on homes and the growing cost of home ownership.”

Bhardwaj added, “Through this facility, we are able to build over 1,200 homes annually. We are taking this model to four new markets: Texas, California, Arizona and Nevada.”

“The technology that Onx has harnessed to make this possible will transform the construction home industry,” said Rex Hardin, mayor of Pompano Beach. “We are proud that Onx has selected our community to launch this state-of-the-art facility.”

The first technology homebuilder in the United States to crack the speed and scalability code, Onx has delivered over 500 homes since it started operations in April 2021. Today, the tech-led homebuilder has twelve communities of single-family homes and townhouses located throughout Miami-Dade County, Southwest Florida and Central Florida, which the X+ Systems factory will continue to supply.

The tech-forward builder has also broken ground on a 1000-home community, On Rockin Wilco in Texas, and is in the advanced stages of launching its factory in Georgetown.

The 150,000-square-foot factory, which cost about $50 million to build, has the capacity to build four homes daily while allowing for better quality construction, resolving the need for more resilient housing. It will provide over 250 jobs across factory operations, supply chain and logistics, and onsite assembly.

The factory produces light-gauge steel roof systems and monolithic low-carbon concrete, reinforced steel dual-layer wall panels with built-in insulation that can resist 175 mph wind loads and deliver a lifecycle of 100+ years.

The quality of these homes, combined with their proprietary energy efficiency, means Onx homeowners have 50%- 60% lower lifetime ownership costs, including savings on maintenance and insurance. Meanwhile, Onx is playing its part in addressing the shortage of housing inventory—a national shortfall of up to five million homes—by using X+ Construction to accelerate the building process to build a new home in just 30 days.

Over 1,500 people already call an Onx Home their own, and the company is set to deliver over 700+ homes this year, fulfilling the homeownership needs of many new South Florida residents.

“With the launch of the Pompano X+ Construction Systems Factory, we are on track to becoming the fastest-growing builder in North America, leveraging technology to build the most energy-efficient homes that are also responsive to climate change,” added Bhardwaj.
