CES is a premier platform for leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts to converge and explore the latest trends and advancements in the tech industry. The event provides an unparalleled opportunity for companies to showcase groundbreaking technologies and foster valuable connections within the industry.

“Asahi Kasei Microdevices is excited to once again participate in CES and present our latest innovations to industry peers and stakeholders,” commented Gregg Rouse, President of AKM Semiconductor, Inc., a subsidiary of AKM located in San Jose, CA. “CES will be the perfect opportunity to showcase our team’s unwavering dedication and tireless efforts to bring OEMs and consumers diverse, innovative solutions that propose a future lifestyle enhanced by electronics. We look forward to our on-site demonstrations that allow visitors to experience our mobility and health technologies first-hand.”

HealthTech Solutions

Contactless Temperature Sensing
AKM's quantum infrared temperature sensor enables accurate measurements in real-time. The tiny package size (<1.8mm2) and current consumption as low as 10μA makes it ideal for expanding the capabilities of wearables such as smartwatches—which will be featured in a wristband concept demo.

Energy Harvesting Solutions for Wearables
AKM's step-up DC/DC converters can boost millivolt-level power sources up to useful voltages, making it possible to use environmental energies such as light, water, or body heat as power sources for IoT sensor nodes. AKM’s energy harvesting demo pairs a thermoelectric generator with the AP4473 to generate power from body heat and is well-suited for the creation of battery-free health tech products.

Contactless Stethoscope using Millimeter-wave radar
Stethoscopes are widely used in initial medical examinations, but the method of listening to faint sounds via direct physical contact has remained unchanged for a long time. AKM has utilized its years of expertise in millimeter-wave technology to develop highly sensitive millimeter-wave-radars with concept uses such as collecting vital signs while the patient is fully clothed.

Automotive Solutions

Acoustic Design Solution VELVET SOUND for Cars
The way we spend time in car cabins is evolving, which has created a demand for new audio experiences and enhanced entertainment. At CES, AKM will introduce an immersive audio experience in their demo car, combining high-quality audio ICs, software, and tuning techniques.

On-Board Charger Form Factor Reduction
Reducing the size and weight of On-Board Charger systems in EVs offers environmental benefits such as vehicle weight reduction and extended driving range. AKM will demonstrate low-heat, high-precision, fast-responding, current-sensing solutions that lead the way to the future of EV charging.

Bluetooth® Low Energy Transmitter IC for Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
The adoption of EVs has led to changes in vehicle control systems, which created a demand for wireless communications for various sensors and indicators. AKM's Bluetooth Low Energy ® transmit-only device may be easily added to TPMS systems, eliminating the need for additional RF radios.

AKM invites attendees, media representatives, and industry professionals to visit booth #11051. There, they can engage with the AKM team, explore showcased offerings, and even participate in an interactive activity demonstrating AKM’s newly developed sensing and mixed-signal solutions for automotive mobility and health tech.
