Satellite Imagery of Izyum, Ukraine and Reported Discovery of Mass Grave

In the aftermath of Russian forces recently withdrawing from parts of Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian government and media are reporting the discovery of a mass grave site near the city of Izyum. Through our partner, Maxar Technologies, satellite imagery has documented activity in and around the contested city since March, 2022 when Russian forces entered the city and were involved in heavy fighting in and around the area. The recently discovered mass grave was reportedly found on the northwestern edge of the city, adjacent to an existing cemetery (known locally as Pishanske cemetery or “Forest cemetery” and also Kladovyschche). In the link provided below, you can download a gallery of satellite images that provide an overview and close up views of the cemetery and the surrounding forest area since March, 2022.
