MCA Reports Record-Breaking Attendance And A Positive Outlook At Its Virtual Summer Meeting

CHICAGO – July 28, 2020 – The Metal Construction Association (MCA) is proud to report that its Virtual Summer Meeting, held June 15-18, enjoyed record high attendance, and promoted a positive outlook for the future of the metal construction industry.

With 166 registrants and an average of 50 people attending the council/committee meetings, the association reports the virtual meeting format gave more members and guests the opportunity to attend and engage with the association.

“While it was an unexpected change to hold the meeting online, we were pleasantly surprised to have lively participation with an even larger group than we typically have had at our in-person Summer meetings,” says Jeff Henry, MCA’s executive director.

One of the highlights of the meeting was a presentation by Paul Giovannoni of FMI Corporation. FMI’s Market Study analyzed the position and projected statistical trends of the metal construction industry. Says Giovannoni, “These favorable trends suggest strong cause for optimism. Although the industry experienced a setback due to the coronavirus shutdown, the metals industry has been and is continuing to gain market share in both roof and wall products across all market sectors examined.” The final report, along with the council and committee meeting minutes, will be made available to MCA members on the association website.

Another highlight was a presentation by MCA’s marketing partner Vilocity Interactive. Ron Mileti and Jennifer Smith revealed MCA’s upcoming new website and marketing campaigns targeting building owners, architects, consultants, and contractors.

Other announcements included news about METALCON, the metal industry’s premier trade event, slated for October 21-23 in Las Vegas, and the 2021 Winter Meeting, from February 1-3 in Clearwater, Florida.
