clauter_spar3d.pngGreetings,

I hope this newsletter finds you all well. A couple of highlights this week include a summary of key  takeaways from CONEXPO 2020 from Executive Editor Jeremiah Karpowicz, who attended a few weeks ago. The write up includes a first person recording of what it is like to use Bentley Systems SYNCHRO with a Hololens, which is great if you haven't had an opportunity to put on on your head somewhere just yet.

Also be sure to check out the call to action from a group of medical professionals that are organizing a "moonshot" challenge for 3D engineers to redesign the ventilator in an effort to compensate for a global shortage.

Lastly, I'd like to put in a plug for an upcoming webinar hosted by Geo Week that discusses " The Future of Lidar" from a geospatial perspective that some of you might find interesting. We are working on lining up SPAR/AEC webinars for the next few months, so stay tuned for even more opportunities to learn something new.

Note: For information regarding SPAR 3D and COVID-19 please see the regular updates here.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG only takes place every three years and as such is always a unique experience. With trucks, excavators and other huge pieces of gigantic construction machinery taking over Las Vegas, it’s an event that’s impossible to miss in more ways than one. The 2020 event was especially unique in ways organizers, exhibitors and attendees couldn’t have ever imagined, but that uniqueness ended up being about far more than concerns about COVID-19.

While there have been several news stories in recent weeks about innovative 3D printed valves or splitters, not every solution that has been rapidly developed necessarily meets the specific medical requirements of a ventilator or similar device. After watching these stories unfold with concern, and with a genuine desire to get involved to help the health crisis that COVID-19 has brought to the community, a group of anesthesiologists and anesthesia residents came up with an idea for a challenge guided by the medical community: The CoVent-19 Challenge.
