CartoVista Creates Thematic Map With Brewery and Beer Data for National Beer Day

Map buffs are encouraged to explore the map to win a $50 eGift card from CraftShack.com (Contest closes April 8th, 2019)

April 04, 2019 -- With three days left before National Beer Day (Sunday, April 7th), we are all looking forward to a lazy Sunday afternoon enjoying a few cold brews. Until then, GIS'ers, cartographers and map lovers can prepare for the big day by brushing up on beer trivia or finding the nearest local breweries with this Mystery Map from the folks at CartoVista. The interactive quiz tests your knowledge about boozers, beer and breweries and gives you a chance to win $50 in craft beer delivered right to your door, courtesy of CraftShack.com!

CartoVista, a web mapping company specializing in thematic analysis, has produced this special Mystery Map to showcase the versatility of their CartoVista SDK. With easily sourced public data*, the team was able to create interactive representations of beer consumption and production over the years, as well as pertinent information on breweries and their density by state across the US. As a flexible software development kit that leverages HTML5 and javascript, they were able to give the map additional functionality and design features such as a quiz, and a funky beer feel that resonates with the target audience for this data.

This fun and interactive web map has several beer-related themes you can explore! You can even search through over 7000 breweries to find the one nearest you and link to their local website to reserve a tour or plan a visit. So what are you waiting for? Play the game and share the map to kick-off the National Beer Day celebrations!
