OGC invites you to a rail-themed Integrated Digital Built Environment (IDBE) Workshop

Results of this rail-themed workshop will provide input for the IDBE subcommittee to align the roadmaps of the relevant working groups within OGC and buildingSMART International.

15 March 2019: The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and buildingSMART International (bSI) invite you to the next IDBE workshop on Monday, 1st April, 2019 in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. The workshop will precede the meetings of the Integrated Digital Built Environment (IDBE) Sub Committee, and will focus on rail-related use cases and the requirements for interoperability between applications in this industry.

The workshop is organized in four sessions building the requirements, existing efforts and practices, and next steps for standardization of railway data in both the geospatial and Building Information Modeling (BIM) contexts. The day will be highly interactive with participation from experts in both rail and standardization. Following the main agenda is a tour of the Leica factory in Heerbrugg.

This workshop is intended for professionals and researchers working in infrastructure design, construction, operation, and mapping, especially those from the rail industry. Participants can share their experiences, learn of the latest developments in standardized data exchange, and influence the evolution of standards to best fit the needs of the rail domain.

IDBE (Integrated Digital Built Environment) is a collaboration between OGC and bSI and aims to increase interoperability between the geospatial and built environment domains. Previous IDBE workshops have covered the existing standards, their history and roadmaps. The previous event in Singapore in September 2018 focused on Data, Interoperability and our Urban World.

The results of the rail-themed workshop will provide input for the IDBE subcommittee to align the roadmaps of the relevant working groups within OGC and bSI.

For more information, including registration, visit the IDBE Workshop Event page on OGC’s website. A remote session will occur alongside the event for those that cannot attend in-person, with details to follow on the event page. Registration for the event is free but mandatory.

About OGC

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is an international consortium of more than 525 companies, government agencies, research organizations, and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available geospatial standards. OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT. OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful within any application that needs to be geospatially enabled. Visit the OGC website at www.opengeospatial.org.
