SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DrChrono Inc., the company enabling the medical practice of the future, and 3D4Medical, the global leader in the development of ground-breaking 3D technology that disrupts traditional methods of education, have teamed up so practices across the United States can access 3D interactive modeling and animation videos from within their EHR to better educate patients.
Now physician practices using DrChrono’s mobile EHR platform can directly access 3D4Medical’s library of 3D interactive models of anatomy across ophthalmology, orthopedics, dentistry, physical therapy, chiropractic, and cardiology specialties. Using the iPad and Apple Pencil, physicians can now draw on these models and display cross-sections of the anatomy in 3D to better educate patients about their conditions and recommend specific treatment plans. In addition, clinicians can access 3D animation videos to give patients more detailed visuals and a deeper understanding of their condition.
This is the first time practices using DrChrono’s EHR can access 3D interactive models and animation videos to educate their patients and inform them on treatment options.
“Better educated patients make more informed decisions, which lead to improved outcomes,” said Niall Johnston, President of 3D4Medical Inc. “Instead of relying on two-dimensional photos, physicians can now give their patients an interactive, 3D experience that can easily illustrate what is going on in their body in a way that still, flat images simply cannot. Partnering with DrChrono brings this 3D world to patients where physicians are already using iPads and iPhones to access medical records and document patient information. Now physicians can easily launch into our Complete Anatomy application and do things like use the iPad and Apple Pencil to zoom in and show in-depth cross-sections of the anatomy.”
“Accessing Complete Anatomy’s library of models and animation videos directly from DrChrono’s platform will make it easier for us to inform our patients about their condition and give them 3D visuals to better understand the treatment plan,” said Dr Jason Hunt, board certified Orthopedic surgeon, founder of OrthoLinks Orthopedics. “We’re excited for this integration and the ability to leverage the DrChrono platform from our iPad Pros to give our patients a clearer picture of their injury and how treatment will work.”
“At DrChrono we look for partners like 3D4Medical that leverage Apple hardware to bring the latest breakthrough applications to medical practices,” said Daniel Kivatinos, COO and Co-Founder of DrChrono. “Being able to show patients detailed 3D models of the anatomy using iPhone, iPad Pro and Apple Pencil to do cross-sections and explain treatment plans is a game changer, and we are excited that practices using DrChrono’s platform all over the country can now access Complete Anatomy right from their EHRs.”
