Media Alert: Sumitomo Electric Designs Novel Doherty Amplifier Using NI AWR Software

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Nov. 26, 2018 --

What:

Next-generation 4G/5G telecommunication systems require power amplifiers (PAs) to operate with high efficiency over a wide frequency range in order to provide multiband and multi-standard concurrent operation. Sumitomo Electric Industries, Osaka, Japan, used the NI AWR Design Environment platform to develop an innovative, very compact, high-power, wideband Doherty amplifier covering nearly 1 GHz of operation bandwidth at 2.25 GHz.

“After conducting the practical verification of our Doherty amplifier with several witnesses, there was no argument that NI AWR software simulation tools came out on top overall, especially in terms of speed and accuracy,” said James Wong, RF specialist at Sumitomo Electric.
