Procore Launches Design Coordination to Improve BIM Coordination

New product provides Virtual Design Construction (VDC) teams streamlined coordination issue management reducing RFIs and budget overruns

CARPINTERIA, Calif., Nov. 13, 2018 — (PRNewswire) — Procore Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based applications for construction, today announced the launch of Procore Design Coordination, the company's newest product designed for VDC teams to improve the process of managing coordination issues by enabling collaboration and automating workflows across design and operations teams. Design Coordination allows for VDC teams to better align with project teams, reducing the amount of errors in construction design documents before they turn into costly RFI processes, change orders or rework.

Construction projects are becoming increasingly complex and more expensive, which puts construction companies under pressure to improve costs, timelines, and overall efficiencies. The goal of the coordination process is to resolve constructability issues early in the preconstruction phase.

Design Coordination integrates existing systems of 2D and 3D coordination into a single, collaborative solution for all coordination issues. Key benefits of Design Coordination include:

  • Unlimited Users: Leverage the experience and knowledge of the entire project team
  • Continuous Coordination: Manage coordination issues in real time with live syncing between Procore and Navisworks ® plugins
  • Centralized Hub: Integrate coordination issues from all sources into one centralized location with open APIs
  • Integrated Workflow: Create RFIs with automated communication and status updates directly from coordination issues found in BIM applications

"VDC teams play a critical role in the construction process. The success of a project, in terms of staying within budget and finishing on schedule, rests heavily on those teams having the ability to efficiently manage design coordination issues through improved collaboration across the entire project team," said Dave McCool, Senior Product Manager for VDC, Procore. "Companies that leverage the collective team's experience to solve issues in the virtual environment, achieve predictable results in the field, and ultimately provide a safer working environment for everyone on the project."

Procore launched Design Coordination at the annual Groundbreak conference in Austin, Texas. This product, and other new offerings, will be discussed and demonstrated onstage during the product keynote which will be streamed live here starting at 1:30pm CT / 2:30pm ET.
