Sneak preview programme Amsterdam Drone Week

Meeting place for business experts and policy makers on Smart Mobility, Regulations and Technology & Solutions

Amsterdam, Tuesday 23 October 2018 - From 26 – 30 November the international event Amsterdam Drone Week takes place. Amsterdam Drone Week is an initiative of RAI Amsterdam and EASA, and is powered by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management, Airbus, Bell, Boeing, and IDS. During this event the new European regulations for drones and the future of Urban Air Mobility is discussed by leading experts, policy makers, and companies in the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) community.

Besides the EASA High Level Conference on Drones, Amsterdam Drone Week will be filled with several international leading conferences, showcases and demonstrations. Among the list of top-level speakers are EU Commissioner Violeta Bulc, Tom Enders (Airbus), Dutch Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management), Steve Nordlund (Boeing HorizonX), Patrick Ky (EASA), and Uber Aviation’s Eric Allison, to name a few.

Smart Mobility: What does the future of on-demand mobility look like?

On 27 November Amsterdam Drone Week brings the exciting future of on-demand mobility.  Tom Enders (Airbus),   Eric Allison (Uber Aviation),  Steve Nordlund (Boeing HorizonX) and many other top representatives, discuss new business models for on-demand (air) mobility that will make cities smarter, better and more efficient.

Regulations: A common European market for drones

Topics discussed under the theme of regulations include common rules for small drones, inclusion of autonomy, urban (air) taxi’s, as well as looking into the challenges posed to the industry itself, Member States and EASA. Featured speakers, including  Koen de Vos (EC),  Massimo Garbini(IDS),  Ben Marcus (Airmap) and  Christoph Raab (DAE), elaborate on the gaps between the high density of operation and the lack of fully fledged U-Space.

Technology & Solutions: Who brings the future of drone applications to life?

On 28 November, the importance of a 5G network for integrating drones in an urban environment are discussed. Furthermore  Gail Orenstein, an award winning FAA and CAA licensed news drone journalist, stresses why UAV technology is so critical in times of war. On 29 November,  Tineke Bakker – van der Veen (Boeing) explains the importance of encouraging tech education for the next generation.
