Lynx simplifies safety certification and secure system architecture for Arm based multi-core designs at Arm Techcon

San Jose, California, 11 October 2018 – Lynx Software Technologies, a world leader in the embedded software market is demonstrating LynxSecure, its award-winning Separation Hypervisor at Arm TechCon. LynxSecure simplifies safety certification processes for Arm® based designs, providing military-grade security coupled with highly efficient virtualization to multi-core Arm® SoC-based designs. LynxSecure is available on the Xilinx® Zynq® Ultrascale+™ MPSoC, and the NXP S32V.

Commenting, Lee Cresswell, vice president of global sales at Lynx Software Technologies, said, “LynxSecure supports mixed criticality development, from bare metal code running alongside full stack Linux, with secured communications capabilities between safely separated applications, allowing the mixing and matching of runtime environments on multi-core Arm-based SoCs. LynxSecure simultaneously supports functional safety certification through hardware supported system partitioning and highly secure by design system resource management for real-time multi-core applications. Developers can run safety-critical OSes and applications next to general purpose OSes on a single SoC without compromising the performance, safety or features of either, because LynxSecure 6.0 offers true secure separation and safe partitioning between these different environments and the devices that they use.

For automotive, Lynx and ETAS have created a safe and secure hypervisor foundation for the ETAS RTA-VRTE platform software solution incorporating the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform standard. RTA-VRTE supports the next generation of cross-domain and vehicle computer ECUs being introduced in upcoming vehicles. Lynx is also a lead contributor to the Industrial Internet Consortium; IIoT Security Framework and drove its guidance on end point security.

Lynx will be demonstrating the LynxSecure Separation Kernel Hypervisor running on a Xilinx UltraScale+ MPSoC at Arm TechCon.  The demonstration will show a mixed criticality system, with LynxSecure running across Cortex-A53 processors, providing secure domains hosting a safety-critical RTOS next to Linux domains running general purpose computing applications.  LynxSecure protects against any fault conditions or threats that manifest in the GPOS domains from compromising the applications running in the safety domain, that are still able to maintain their deterministic behaviour regardless of the performance of the rest of the system.
