Maker Faire San Diego welcomes the future Comic-Con Museum to this annual celebration of invention and creativity in Balboa Park, October 6-7. Event attendees will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give input for the vision and design of the future year-round pop culture center.

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 24, 2018 — (PRNewswire) —  Hold on to your fandom! Maker Faire San Diego welcomes the future Comic-Con Museum to the list of 12 locations and 10 venues at this annual celebration of invention and creativity in Balboa Park, October 6-7. Event attendees will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give input for the vision and design of the future year-round pop culture center, as well as see and experience awesome projects at their location from more than 30 makers. Expect several surprises along the way, too!

"We are really excited to be joining the Balboa Park community as part of the Annual Maker Faire," said Comic-Con Museum Director of Public Programs Keegan Chetwynd. "Although there is a considerable amount of design, construction, and fundraising standing between us and a finished museum, we wanted to open the doors and give San Diego a taste of what is to come!"

Pop culture themed activities in the museum during Maker Faire include these amazing products of human imagination:

WOWCube—resembling a Rubik's cube, the world's first portable twisty game console allows gamers to play in both virtual and normal realities.
Voltron Legendary Green Lion Droid—Grab a selfie with this replica from the Voltron animated series, built from resin and animatronics.
Toy and Hobby Exhibit by Darth Tucker—This San Diego company will show how 3D printing has enhanced user experiences for the comic book and toy industries.
DIY Animatronics—Jarvis the steampunk robot and his maker will display mechanisms available for builders of all skill levels to build their own animatronic robot.
Sprite Lights—A wearable, programmable LED matrix which allows users to share their unique style and identity through patterns, colors and animated artwork.
Robot by Matt Q. Spangler—the diminutive Robot goes on larger-than-life adventures doing what we consider the simpler things - eating, exploring and meeting animals. Join him on a journey as seen through his tiny robotic eyes.

Advance ticket adult prices start at just $21, children at $13. Admission includes entry to all participating venues. To purchase tickets, visit http://sandiego.makerfaire.com/ticket/. Purchasing a weekend pass will allow visitors time to experience all of the museums participating in this event.

ABOUT MAKER FAIRE: Maker Faire is an award-winning, family-friendly event celebrating technology, education, science, arts, crafts, engineering, food, sustainability, and more. Maker Faire has become part of pop culture, a place for experiential marketing, debuting new technologies and inventions, and celebrating geekdom. Maker Media produces two annual flagship Maker Faires, partners with museums to produce Featured Maker Faires, and works with communities to license Mini Maker Faires around the world http://makerfaire.com/.

HISTORY OF MAKER FAIRE: The first Maker Faire launched in May 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area and was quickly followed by Faires in Austin, Detroit, and New York City, as well as others around the world. Technology has lowered the barriers to entry to becoming a Maker and this launched the Maker Movement which fuels Maker Faire. Maker Faire was designed to be forward-looking, showcasing Makers who are exploring new forms and new technologies. But it's not just for exhibiting what's new in technical fields—Maker Faire features innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance, and craft.
