Arena Solutions and XPLM Launch SOLIDWORKS Integration to Simplify and Speed Product Design Processes

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Sept. 4, 2018 — (PRNewswire) —   Arena Solutions, the leading cloud-based product realization platform for complex electronics and medical device companies, is partnering with XPLM, Inc., an independent IT service provider and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems integrator, to launch the Arena-XPLM® Integration for SOLIDWORKS® PDM Professional.

The integrated solution combines SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional, an industry-leading mechanical CAD software, with Arena's PLM software to enable mechanical engineering teams to easily publish and update mechanical part structures and associated files to the controlled product record in Arena.

"We are excited to partner with XPLM, a leader in integrating SOLIDWORKS mechanical design data and processes into larger enterprise systems," said Wenxiang Ma, vice president of engineering and CTO of Arena Solutions. "SOLIDWORKS is a dominant mechanical CAD solution in product design. Our collaboration with XPLM gives teams an efficient and accurate path for mechanical design to become part of the greater product record for all stakeholders in product realization."

Arena-XPLM Integration for SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional key benefits include:

  • Drive faster innovation: Connect mechanical designs into the larger product record for accurate and responsive sourcing and full-team collaboration on design.
  • Ensure process simplification and standardization: With fast publishing options and business process configuration settings, design engineering teams can quickly create new parts and bill of materials (BOMs) in Arena from SOLIDWORKS, add derived files, and author changes in Arena to continue product collaboration processes. With bi-directional functionality, updates to item master information in Arena are shared back to SOLIDWORKS PDM.
  • Increase margins: Eliminate risk of data entry errors and ensure everyone is working from the same, most current, and complete product record.

"The integration with Arena makes design teams more efficient while giving the rest of the design for manufacturing team accurate and timely access to the complete product design, including all the mechanical components and associated derived files," said David Turcotte, general manager of XPLM. "The bi-directional integration facilitates the new product introduction and ongoing product development processes that teams manage in Arena."

The Arena-XPLM integration solution supports SOLIDWORKS Professional 2018 and future releases and joins Arena's extensive partner-provided integration offerings to streamline the transfer of customer product information for accurate planning, timely manufacturing, and better customer support.
