Architectural Adventures Announces 2019 Tour Line-up

WASHINGTON – June 18, 2018 – The official travel program of the American Institute of Architects—Architectural Adventures—announces its 2019 tour line-up.

The one-of-a-kind program—now in its second year—offers unique architectural tours around the globe at leading destinations. Tours are led by architects and design subject matter experts that provide specialized insights on structures and sites. Members of the media can learn more about the program by visiting the Architectural Adventures booth at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2018 Expo from June 21-22.

Next year’s line-up will include 16 different travel experiences that will pack history, culture and architecture into each trip. Architectural tours in Portugal, Spain and Japan—which sold out this year—will be replicated again in 2019. Tours currently available for 2019 are as follows:

  • Vietnam | Feb. 24-March 11
    Discover Vietnam’s Chinese and French-inspired architectural spectacles through its natural wonders and old-styled identity.
  • Barcelona | March 16-24 and Nov. 16-24
    From the medieval Gothic Quarter to Antoni Gaudí’s majestic Modernist marvels, experience the structures that compose one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
  • Italy | April 8-16 
    Travel to Northern Italy and experience the Renaissance world of Andrea Palladio, one of history’s greatest architects.
  • Paris | April 13-19
    Discover t influence of architecture and fashion in this dynamic city where design has no limits.
  • Dutch Waterways | April 17-25
    Cruise the waterways of the Netherlands and Belgium and discover Old World cities, picture-perfect towns and centuries of history and culture.
  • Peru | May 13-22
    Encounter the distant past and see a fascinating present of colonial and indigenous influences in Peruvian architecture.
  • Bentonville and Little Rock, Arkansas | May 22-27, 2019
    From charming Victorian townscapes to the soaring glass-enclosed Thorncrown Chapel, discover the beautiful cultural heritage of Bentonville and Little Rock, Arkansas.
  • Milan | Sept. 2019
    See new treasures and modernizations of the 21st century, and classic artistic gems of Milan’s storied past.
  • Tuscany | Sept. 1-12

  • India | Oct. 17-Nov. 2
    Travel through the classic Golden Triangle of India: bustling Delhi, famed Agra, and grand Jaipur.
  • Portugal & Southern Spain | Oct. 24-Nov. 7
    From historic Lisbon to lively Madrid, explore 12 cities and two UNESCO World Heritage sites.
  • Croatia/Slovenia | Oct. 31-Nov. 11
    Discover the beauty of old-world architecture from Dubrovnik’s fortified city walls to Slovenia’s Predjama Castle.
  • San Antonio | Nov. 3 – 7
    Explore one of the oldest cities in the United States and be among the first to experience Sir David Adjaye’s newest museum, Ruby City.
