Open Geospatial Consortium announces Leidos’ upgrade to Principal Membership

July 26, 2017 -- The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) is pleased to announce that Leidos has raised its membership level from Technical to Principal Level. Leidos has been an active member of OGC since 1995.

As a Principal Member, Leidos will participate in OGC’s Planning Committee to provide leadership through the exploration of market and technology trends to ensure that OGC's activities remain effective and agile in a changing technology environment. Leidos will also participate in final approval decisions for all OGC standards and nominations to the Board of Directors.

OGC President and CEO, Mark Reichardt, commented that “Leidos has a long and active history with the Consortium, joining OGC in 1995, just a year after OGC’s inception. It’s clear that Leidos leadership understands the value that standards and interoperability bring to the market. Recently, Leidos chose to elevate its membership to the Principal level, which expands the company’s contributions to the OGC mission. Through voting participation in the OGC Planning Committee, Leidos will work with OGC Principal and Strategic members to help guide OGC in its support to new markets and rapidly evolving technologies.”

Leidos President of the Advanced Solutions Group, Mike Chagnon, commented that “We are proud to take this new step in our relationship with the OGC and show our commitment to openness and the consensus approach to developing interoperable standards for the geospatial marketplace. We look forward to continued collaboration within the consortium.”

Over the years, Leidos has been: a Participant or Observer in OGC Test Bed 3, 7, and 8, as well as the Critical Infrastructure Protection Initiative; an Editor or Contributor to 8 OGC Standards and Engineering Reports; a Participant in multiple Standards Working Groups, including activities related to OGC Sensor Web Enablement standards; and an active voting member of the OGC Technical Committee.
