eMemory Unveils EcoBit Technology for RFID and NFC Applications

Hsinchu, Taiwan - Aug 29, 2016 – eMemory today unveils its ultra-low power embedded logic MTP solution, EcoBit technology, aimed at the market for passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Near Field Communication (NFC). With ultra-low voltage domain and excellent operating current management, EcoBit IP is ideal for RFID or NFC IC designs operating under strict power constraints.

Because contactless ICs source far less power from electromagnetic carrier waves, power consumption is undoubtedly a key concern for embedded nonvolatile memory. EcoBit boasts a first-class design for operating current management and can carry out on-chip or in-system writing with a low power consumption that is measured in micro-Watts (uW). EcoBit fully meets the low-power requirements of passive RFID and NFC ICs operating on limited power supplies.

In addition to low power consumption, design flexibility is enhanced by enabling EcoBit IP to work across a wide voltage domain in order to achieve low operation voltage for both read and write operations. As always with eMemory’s logic NVM solutions, EcoBit technology is implemented in logic compatible process with no additional mask or process changes, thus lowering adoption barriers for IC design teams.

eMemory’s EcoBit IP—supporting a specification on array-density up to 4K bits, operating power in the uW-range and 10K-times electrical P/E-cycling endurance—has been verified in 0.11um logic and low-power process platforms. The EcoBit IP in both platforms are available to be embedded in customer's products. With its excellent power management, we expect EcoBit IP to be embedded widely in RFID and NFC applications.
